Two-Day Helicopter Elopement in the Italian Dolomites

Last Updated: April 6, 2024 | Published On: August 30, 2023

Wow- where do we begin with this two-day adventure??? Chris + Megan’s elopement was an absolute joy to document. From the first time we chatted on a video call 17 months ago, and then the ups and downs to get to this point. Even three days before their wedding, there were canceled flights and weather that required some flexibility and creativity to overcome. When it finally came together, it was truly a dream.

Early July is a gorgeous time to visit the Italian Dolomites, and this unbelievable range didn’t hold back from showing off for Chris and Megan during their multi-day elopement.

From the start of the planning process, Megan and Chris knew they wanted to build an unforgettable experience that would allow them to see the variety of epic landscapes the Dolomites offered. Breaking their elopement into two days allowed them to enjoy exploring multiple locations and activities at a relaxed pace, while also avoiding the typical afternoon thunderstorms that affect the mountains in the summer.

For locations, Megan and Chris wanted to check out some of the famous spots but also desired privacy so they could fully enjoy their adventure. Because of that, the couple opted for a mix. A quiet first look on Day 1, paired with the famous Seceda afterward. On Day 2, they booked a private, hour-long helicopter tour, which included a landing at a secluded mountaintop location. Then, they finished out their celebration with champagne in a picturesque meadow away from the crowds. While Seceda was beautiful, we all agreed at the end that the best parts of the day were spent in the lesser-known, but equally mind-blowing locations. Getting to one of the locations by helicopter only added to the surreal experience.

It’s hard to believe that after nearly 1.5 years of planning, their elopement finally happened! It was an honor. There is nothing we love more than finally getting to celebrate with and document, the couples we come to love. Thank you to Chris and Megan for trusting us.

Real Dolomites Elopement Experience: A review from our couple

Wow! Where should we even start?! We really couldn’t begin to thank Made in the Mountains Photo enough for their spectacular customer service and beautiful photos/video. We were looking for a photographer and videographer who was willing to document our two-person Dolomites elopement – but would treat it as if held the same importance as a traditional wedding– and we found that in Christine and Scott.

We chose them almost immediately after we saw their incredible work on Instagram. Both of us had an automatic, emotional response to one of Christine’s photos and knew we had to reach out! Christine’s passion for adventure elopements and her love for the mountains made her the obvious choice… and it proved to be the best decision we could make!

From beginning to end Christine and Scott were exceptionally easy to work with (They worked with us for 17 months to make our dream a reality). They took the time to understand our vision in detail and put together a perfect plan, location ideas, timelines, vendor help and guides to make this process as stress free as possible.

On our big day, Christine and Scott were not only affable, professional, and organized – but it truly felt like having two close friends along with us on such an important day. Due to rainstorms in the evening, Christine took it upon herself to come up with a solution in order to maximize our time outside. They did not have to do this but went over and beyond to make sure that our day went as close to our plan as possible. We can’t thank them enough for that!

Both Christine and Scott have a keen eye and displayed their ability to capture the most special, candid moments that made the day unforgettable. From the moment we had our first look to our champagne pop to round out our celebration, they captured it all beautifully. We were so lucky to have Scott and Christine with us on our day. Every time we look at our gallery and teaser video it brings us a feeling of pure love and happiness. As you can tell from this review, we would wholeheartedly recommend Made in the Mountains Photo.
