About Us

We’re Scott and Christine Madeux

(Our friends call us the “Madudes")

We’re an American husband and wife adventure elopement photography team based in the German Alps. We also happen to be the faces behind “Made in the Mountains Photo”.

We met in 2017 while working in Alaska. Despite living in the same apartment complex in Idaho, we didn't cross paths until we lived in the same employee housing all the way up in the Last Frontier. Our love for a good time in the mountains is what initially brought us together, and the rest is history!

Since getting married, we've been able to road trip to Alaska and the Arctic Circle; make trips to Glacier, Grand Teton, Arches, and Zion National Parks; camp at the Oregon Coast, bivy on mountain tops, live in three-states (Alaska, Idaho, and Wyoming), and now Germany. We've explored the Italian Dolomites, the Swiss Alps, and Austria's majestic peaks, photographing incredible couples along the way. We love a good mountain adventure!

Besides mountains, we love cooking (if you've got allergies, let's exchange recipes-we pride ourselves in making the best gluten and dairy-free chocolate chip cookies out there), winding down by watching the X-Files or going on scenic drives. Marriage has been one grand adventure-and we wouldn't have it any other way.

About Christine

Lead photographer + editor

Growing up, I was never particularly outdoors-y, believe it or not

(I spent a good chunk of my childhood living in Indiana). That changed when I was 15 though and I came across a photo of Grindelwald, Switzerland with glaciers and peaks towering high over the valley. At that moment, I knew I wanted to become a mountain-person. That photo led me to go outside of my comfort zone and take jobs working on trail construction and restoration projects in Glacier National Park, Montana, and throughout Northwest Colorado. I moved to Germany for the second time when I was 18 (the first time is a story for another time) to explore the Alps and I got to experience Switzerland with my own eyes. Over the years, my passion for the outdoors has continued to grow. Sharing that with others through hiking + photography has brought me so much fulfillment!

About Scott

Second Shooter, Tech guy, and so much more!

Servus! I’m Scott and I’m generally the second shooter/bag boy! Don’t be surprised if, while Christine is taking some beautiful photos, you see me running around trying to find the perfect angle for an epic landscape shot. My first experience with the mountains was while living and working in southeast Alaska. I was fascinated by the remoteness of the jagged peaks and bright blue glaciers (especially the glaciers). I also realized that I loved hiking up steep trails where my legs and lungs were trying to do everything to get me to take a breather. Being able to push through and reach some amazing viewpoints made it all worth the effort. I enjoy getting to know an area well and finding the hidden sweet spots that only those that really look for them can find. I also get a big kick out of showing people the obvious and not so obvious beauty of the areas in which we work.
