Breathtaking Hiking Wedding in the German Alps
Last Updated: September 10, 2024 | Published On: January 15, 2024
This breathtaking elopement in the German Alps was a highlight, and included everything that makes Bavaria the perfect adventure wedding destination. From sprawling wildflower fields to mountain vistas and lakes, this June elopement was a dream.
I’ve found many couples who choose the Bavarian Alps for their wedding have ties to the area, and Allison and Bryce were no exception. They had previously visited the area a couple of years previously. Not only had they fallen in love with the scenery, but also felt the pull to come back as Bryce had relatives in the area.
The pair wanted a way to involve their family in a low-key, yet fun way, while also prioritizing their time together to do what they love most – spending time together hiking in the mountains! Bryce also had a surprise up his sleeve that made the experience that much more memorable.
After a few months of location planning, back and forth, and working out the best way to both spend time just the two of them, and also involve family, slowly, a beautiful plan began to form. The pair would kick off the day with family for getting ready, before heading out and hiking up a small, yet incredibly stunning mountain. There, they would exchange private vows. In the evening, they’d meet up again for a ceremony with family, before enjoying as a group a relaxing dinner back at their hotel.
Bryce shared with me early on that he had a specific area in mind for the ceremony, as his mom had a painting of this lake that her grandfather had created. This painting is so special to her, that she has kept it hung in their living room for years. To make things more exciting, we kept the ceremony location a surprise until the very last moment. When Bryce’s mom pulled up in a taxi with the others, she was stunned. After looking around for a moment, she realized where she was and began to cry. It was a tender moment, and everyone tried to hold back tears of their own. Bryce also invited his local German relatives that knew his grandfather, so the reunion was beautiful.
There is so much I could share from this day, but I’ll leave it to photos to do that job. Truly, Bryce and Allison’s elopement was perfect. We even got caught in a surprise thunderstorm right as we stopped for lunch. We weren’t sure if the weather would clear, but the rain stopped just shortly before the ceremony. The afternoon deluge was just one more event that made the day memorable.
I LOVE working with couples in the German Alps. Not only is it my chosen home after relocating from the US, but I find there are no shortage of beautiful places to get married. While lesser-known than many other parts of the Alps, the landscapes are equally stunning.

Real Germany Elopement Experience: A review from my couple
”Finding Christine with Made in the Mountains Photo was like a dream come true for us! We were struggling to even know where to begin planning an elopement/micro wedding in Germany from afar, but after our first virtual meeting with her, we were immediately at ease and super excited. Christine really went above and beyond the typical responsibilities of a wedding photographer– providing a detailed resource guide, creating a timeline, scouting out beautiful hiking trails with spectacular views for us to choose from, and giving us local recommendations for a celebrant, hair and makeup artist, flowers etc. She kept us on track with the planning process and helped us craft our perfect day of celebrating our love together in the mountains! We feel lucky to have spent the day hiking with Christine, an immediate friend that made us feel comfortable and natural around the camera. Oh and not to mention she is an INCREDIBLE photographer! She captured every moment and emotion as well as the breathtaking scenery beautifully. She had the photos ready quickly and we have already received an insane amount of compliments on them. We could not be happier with our experience! You will not regret choosing Made in the Mountains for your special day!”
