Awe-Inspiring Adventure Wedding in Engadin St. Moritz
Last Updated: August 26, 2024 | Published On: August 26, 2024
Amanda + Rodney, two passionate trail runners from Australia reached out to us last December and shared their vision for a breathtaking, adventurous experience in Switzerland. We quickly clicked as trail runners ourselves and suggested one of our favorite mountain running destinations, Engadin St. Moritz. This area is an outdoor enthusiast’s dream and one of our favorite Alps wedding destinations. St. Moritz is perfect for elopements, thanks to countless stunning locations, diverse scenery, luxurious hotels, good food, and a unique atmosphere.
Throughout the planning process, we worked with Amanda + Rodney to help them choose locations that would have privacy, while also remaining accessible to their close friends and family who traveled with them. From making use of cable cars and funiculars to booking an overnight mountain stay, we were able to create a memorable two-day experience.
During Amanda + Rodney’s two days, we experienced rain, shine, and one of the prettiest wedding sunrises. The first day was spent hiking to a rugged glacier overlook still covered in some snow despite it being mid-July. We got caught in a brief rainshower, but the moody clouds made for an epic landscape. Amanda had booked lunch at one of the mountain huts, and the warm food was perfect as everyone dried off. By afternoon, the skies had cleared and it was time to head over to their accommodation and ceremony location, Muottas Muragl. Amanda and Rodney opted to bring two sets of wedding attire, so at the hotel they changed before dinner. Muottas Muragl prepared an incredible multi-course meal for everyone, and the food was enjoyed by all.
Before we knew it, the day was fading so we hiked up the mountain for an intimate ceremony led by celebrant Marylin Rebelo. She did a fabulous job and included some unique activities that would involve each guest. As vows were exchanged, the sky turned brilliant shades of pink and purple. It was hard to believe that just hours earlier it had been raining. In the final light of day, we grabbed a few evening portraits before heading back in for dessert.
At sunrise the next morning, we were greeted with an unbelievable site. Below us, the entire valley was filled with clouds, and we were high above them. Amanda and Rodney chose to keep the morning simple, and just enjoy soaking up this first morning married. After the early morning, everyone met for a filling breakfast before packing their bags to head down. The time truly FLEW by, goodbyes are always bittersweet.
Amanda + Rodney are true inspirations, and Rodney has worked hard to fundraise for Invictus Austrlia through his mind-boggling running pursuits. Invictus Australia offers support for veterans.
We are so grateful for these two and their families for allowing us to capture their St. Moritz wedding.
